The Best Kind of Ribbons.

Happy New Year to all! Sometimes strong and heavy resolutions are made when we ring in a new year, other times we may choose to softly reflect and just be grateful for what we have. Nothing wrong with resolutions and goals and self-examination but perhaps the striving to achieve and goal setting sometimes takes us further from our true path of happiness. With gratitude and giving I think doors open for receiving unexpected blessings, not to mention a certain amount of blessed simplicity in life.  I think the same can be true of our relationships with our dogs……

Be grateful for who they are and what they are giving you at the moment; quirks, ‘faults’, honesty, brilliance, quietness, laughter and  energy, sleepiness and joy. Joy in the way only dogs can show. Pay attention, share and feed those moments. When we accept and are grateful for who they really are in the same way they seem to accept us and all our faults, we can move forward in our relationship with them in an honest way. The achievements and goals we have for them whether large or small; the steps we take with them whether giant or baby, will be that much better and true. In fact, the more  gratitude and honesty you share with your dog, the more they will bless you in ways you never expected. You may not be able to pin that kind of ribbon on the wall, but it sure has a place in your heart. Here’s to a loving,  healthy and inspiring 2014 for you, your dogs, and your families.
