Sittin’ and Singin’ in the Rain…

Thinking I need a dingy to get out to my training building. So much rain and water this spring! Some dogs love it and some dogs, as you many of you know, hate a single rain drop. Different surfaces (wet, muddy, snowy, pebbles) can be used as  challenge in some of our training exercises. I had Twyla out the other day to practice laying down on a gravel driveway. Though clearly not as comfortable for her as a carpet or grass, it wasn’t as though I needed her to stay there for any length of time; just respond to my cue to lie down. Oh, did I mention it was also wet and slightly muddy? 🙂 She gave me a little look :), but after the 2nd try, happily complied and was suitably rewarded! Generalizing some of our obedience skills to some not so desirable environments is good practice. Sometimes it is easy to forget to ask for a lie down or a sit in a puddle 🙂  How on earth can you do a freestyle routine to Singin’ in the Rain otherwise ? 🙂
